Many libraries or other repository enthusiasts still come across difficulties in in making the business case for institution wide repositories or in trying to instate deposit mandates at their institute. However, aside from the Open Access arguments in favor of repositories, research evaluation functionality becomes more and more successful in capturing the management’s attention and allocating funds for repository projects. In this paper we demonstrate some approaches to the evaluation of researchers and their work, using a repository implemented with DSpace at different institutes. Although this functionality diverges the purpose of the repository from the original use of DSpace, it facilitates the introduction of deposit mandates and institute wide adoption for repositories.
