Abstract

The world is heading towards a paperless society. Rapid advancement of information technologies including the Internet and digitizing techniques means that e-publications are mushrooming-online, on the Web and CD-Rom format. The knowledge is now written in bytes rather than pages. The paper journals/books are being replaced by e-journals/books. In recent years, many more publications have been earmarked digitizing, a necessary process for converting p-resources in to e-resources. In addition a sizeable number of publications are now published only electronically which has significantly enlarged the size of the e-resource pool. Specific information from the resources can easily, quickly and remotely be retrieved and provided the resources are available in electronic format.
